Today, I want to share one of my most cherished travel experiences — a journey through the United States after spending three summer months working in the beautiful state of Maine. As a university student participating in the Work and Travel program, this trip was a true eye-opener and a unique opportunity that I recommend to anyone with a thirst for adventure.

Before we embarked on our travels, we had spent months working diligently, eagerly awaiting the chance to explore this vast and diverse country. Our time in Maine had some wonderful moments too, like a trip to Portland, a charming little town where we enjoyed a delightful picnic with our American family beside an old lighthouse. The views and sunsets from that spot are still very vivid in my mind, and I often find myself reminiscing about those peaceful moments. My travel companion during this unforgettable journey was my university classmate.

Our first stop after leaving the village we worked in was Boston, Massachusetts. The city centre, the bustling harbour, and the urban neighbourhoods captivated us. One particular evening, we experienced one of the most breathtaking sunsets during a storm, viewed from a high-rise building. A cruise to see the whales proved to be a mesmerizing experience, despite dealing with seasickness. And, of course, we couldn't leave Boston without trying the mouth-watering cannoli and enjoying the unique experience of cooking our own soup, known as hot pot.

Next on our adventure was Las Vegas, a city or I should say a very long street that has energy like no other. While we spent just one night there, we managed to explore the famous Strip, marvelled at the Bellagio fountains and a mini Eiffel Tower, and encountered the lively street performers in colourful costumes. However, our attempt to walk back to our Airbnb at night turned into a pretty nerve-wracking experience, and in hindsight, I highly recommend taking a cab/a taxi for safety.

The real highlight of our journey came when we booked a two-day guided tour from Las Vegas. This unforgettable tour took us to see iconic landmarks like the Hoover Dam, Route 66, the Grand Canyon, the Antelope Canyon, and the majestic Horseshoe Bend. The unique landscapes and the charming local villages left us in awe. It was money well-spent as the guide and the company ensured we had an incredible time with plenty of snacks, drinks, and informative insights about the places we visited. Spending a night in Paige, enjoying local ribs, made this leg of the journey even more memorable.

Finally, the anticipation reached its peak as we hopped on a plane to the enchanting islands of Hawaii. But I'll save those mesmerizing adventures for another episode, as well as our exciting escapades in Los Angeles, there is actually a lot of debate about how to pronounce the name of this city but you know what I mean, LA.
